Brett’s paintings are created through direct observation as well as an inventive studio process. He aims are to capture life and light in his work, the process is one of constant painting, scrapping out and repainting in an attempt to give the work what it suggests or needs. Brett draws inspiration from his surroundings, watching people walk their dogs, play bocce ball or seeing children play are scenes that have been captured through either traditional “plein aire” painting techniques or have become incorporated into an inventive studio composition.
